What a magical night for Kathryn Bigelow! Hurt Locker was nominated for 9 awards and walked away with 6, including Best Director ANDDD Best Picture! Wow. It demolished Avatar, which is the highest grossing film of all time!
Kathryn Bigelow is the first woman to win Best Director, and let me just remind you that tonight's Oscar's was #82!!! Men have 81, ladies, we have 1! That's alright though, more are on their way! Oh, anddd she beat her ex-husband, James Cameron, in the process! Talk about battle of the exes! It was onnnn tonight! Interestingly enough, they sat her right in front of him! Granted they were married almost twenty years ago, but still!!!
It's crazy how moved I am by the fact that a woman has FINALLY won the Academy Award for Best Director and Best Picture. I cried when she won, but the Oscar's for some reason is always emotional for me. I love seeing people's wildest dreams come true. I especially loved when Barbara Streisand said:: "Well, the time has come!"
Backstage Bigelow was noted as saying:
"Don't give up on your dream. I've been making movies for 30 years before tonight."So inspiring. She could barely hold it together during her acceptance speech! How funny was it when Steve Martin tried to hold her Oscar at the very end of the show and she wouldn't let go!? Hilarious.
