I was so thrilled when Sandra Bullock, Mo'Nique, and Kathryn Bigelow all walked away with awards at last nights Academy Awards. The three of them were actually my personal choices for best actress, best supporting actress, and best director. Very exciting to see them win!
It was so humbling to watch them accept their awards; they were all so shocked and taken back that you couldn't help but be taken back with them. They were all so gracious in their speeches, and Sandra Bullock was particularly funny. Go figure! Love her.
Backstage in the press room they each said some memorable things that really struck a chord with me. I want to share their words with you all:
"I want to do everything. I've always been one of those people that don't like when people tell me I can't do something." — Sandra BullockSo empowering and so inspiring!
"This role was so not about my acting career. This role has shaped my life, to allow me not to judge and to love unconditionally. Now, if that goes into my career, great, but if it doesn't and I'm just a dynamic person that I strive to be every day, I've won, baby." — Mo'Nique
"I hope I'm the first of many, and, of course, I'd love to just think of myself as a filmmaker, and I long for the day when a modifier can be a moot point. But I'm ever grateful if I can inspire some young, intrepid, tenacious male or female filmmaker and have them feel that the impossible is possible and never give up on your dream... Don't give up on your dream. I've been making movies for 30 years before tonight." —Kathryn Bigelow
